Going Analog

Where video game industry veterans introduce great board games to video gamers

Podcast #81: Puzzle Strike 2, video game influences, push-your-luck (guest: Sirlin Games)

David Sirlin, President of Sirlin Games, drops by to do a deep dive into video game influences on his tabletop designs...especially with the new Puzzle Strike 2!

We couldn't think of anyone to better embody the idea of "Going Analog" than David Sirlin, the designer of such video game classics as Super Street Fighter HD Remix and Puzzle Fighter HD Remix. Sirline also started tabletop game company Sirlin Games and has designed bag-builder Puzzle Strike and fighting game Yomi, among many others. With the standalone sequel Puzzle Strike 2 now live on Kickstarter, David stops by to discuss how deep his video game background goes into his tabletop designs, the unique gem-pile mechanic of Puzzle Strike 2, and how designing in the Fantasy Strike universe helped and slightly hindered some of his designs.
